Chevy Camaro Z28
77th Indy 500
May 30, 1993

The redesigned Camaro was selected as the Indy pace car in 1993, becoming the first car to hold the honor four times.  This was Chevrolet's ninth appearance at the Brickyard.  The car was basically stock, powered by a 5.7L, 275-horsepower V-8, but Chevrolet fitted the pace car with a Corvette 4-speed automatic transmission, as well as assorted safety features.  The '93 pace car was driven by Chevrolet general manager Jim Perkins, who had previously driven the 1990 Beretta.

Only 645 Camaro Z28 Indy replicas were built, with 125 of those used for parade duty at the speedway.
